ATTENTION POKEMON FANS!
If your fans of Pokemon then you are going to love this! (I know I do!) Today (March 24, 2013) North America releases the Limited Edition Pikachu Nintendo 3DS XL! This was previously only released in Japan and Europe. If you don't have own a 3DS yet and you love Pokemon, then this is the best thing for you. Especially since in North America, we didn't get the White 3DS XL, this is the closest thing we can get to it. I know many of us wanted a white console, I know I did. I am considering on actually picking this up. I do not own a 3DS but I have always wanted one, but was waiting for a white color release, but seeing as we'll probably never get it, this is the closest thing to it. I also loved Pokemon while growing up, so this reminds me of my childhood.
Xbox 360 sales this past February
Microsoft's Xbox 360 sold 302,000 units in February 2013 in the United States. According to this article, the Xbox 360 is the top leading home gaming console to be sold in the U.S. It has been the top-selling platform for 26 months now. Beating out its competition, Sony's Playstation 3 and Nintendo's Wii. I for one, did not know that the Xbox has been at the top for the past 26 months. I could have thought that the Playstation 3 would be there at one point, but I could be wrong. I myself own and favor the Xbox 360 over the other two home gaming consoles. Although you have to pay to play online for the Xbox while on PS3 its free. I am completely fine with that because the online features and community make up for it. It also beats the PS3's online features by a long shot.

Birthdays Are Too Mainstream
If you're a gamer, you should have thought at least once in your life that you level up when its your birthday. This is such a very funny aspect of the gaming culture. If you're not a gamer, you should still understand this meme and have a laugh unless you've been living under a rock.

Evolution of Gaming
(Non-Text Media)
Here is a very well done three minute video which documents without words how the gaming culture has evolved over time since 1958 to 2011. Just look at how far we have come since the very first batch of games.

Hypothesis
So the reason why I am writing this blog is because I want to help inform the world about the gaming culture. It isn't always such a bad thing. There are many ways the gaming culture has benefited our society. It also is one of the top leading industries in the world. I myself took an interest in the gaming culture at such a young age. If I can remember, it was probably when I was in kindergarten. Ever since then, I've always loved playing video games. I also still keep up my social life more than playing games. To me that is more important. I'm not going to be one of the people who just stay home all day and play video games from dawn to dusk. I would rather go out and have fun with friends. However, when I do end up playing games, I love them. I lean more towards racing games though. Only within the last few years have I started appreciating other genres of games... boy was I missing out.
Are video games a good thing?
That
question has been posed ever since video games started getting popular. Parents
and other people are always asking if video games are a good thing for the
future. There are people who completely disagree with the fact that video games
are good, and there are also people who do agree that video games can be a
benefit for the future. I stumbled upon this website that shows the positives
and negatives of playing video games. This article is very well detailed with
so much information that I did not even know before. It also provides backup in
what they are saying. Meaning they have confirmed certain things from actual
scientists. All I knew before reading this was that video games helped trained
the brain with hand-eye coordination and faster reactions. I knew that it was
also a bad thing because you could get really hooked onto gaming that you will
lose your social life and perhaps become one of those people who stay at home
all day. However after reading this article, I found out many more ways on how
video games can help be a benefit to our society. Not only does it train us
with hand-eye coordination and faster reactions, but it also develops reading
and math skills, makes the person think more critically and improves their
concentration. It also simulates real world events that will help us if that "situation"
may ever occur. Of course this article also states about the negatives. Such as
that it could teach children wrong values. It could teach them that violent behavior,
vengeance and aggression is a good thing.
So if you
are interested in reading more about this, you should definitely check out this
article.
