This article poses the question: Do video games make kids
violent? It starts off with some news about somebody who gunned down twenty-seven
people. That starts a debate about violent video games at the same time.
Senator Joe Lieberman stated "The violence in the entertainment culture,
particularly with the extraordinary realism to video games and movies now, does
cause vulnerable young men, particularly, to be more violent". This topic
has been taken up to the Supreme Court. It has been an argument going back and
forth dealing with the idea that violent video games can cause people to
actually become violent themselves. There are people who defend against that
and say that it is no different than reading a violent scene in a book. Then there are people who back up that topic
by saying that violence in video games are in fact different than reading
violence from a story. They state that in video games, you get rewarded for
being violent. Although in the end, there is no actual way to prove that
violent video games can make a person violent.
This is a pretty interesting topic to read about, so if you
have the time, I'd suggest you take a look at it.
